Read MoreWe know that the gorgeous blues of the Out Islands are undeniable. Astronauts have claimed The Bahamas as ‘the most beautiful place from space.’ In particular, the Exuma cays are some of the most eye-catching waters in the world. However, this is not to dismiss the crystal clear blues of New Providence, Paradise Island, and surrounding cays. Here are six popular beaches in Nassau.
Goodman’s Bay on Cable Beach is probably the most popular beach in Nassau. This beach is a favourite among the locals. Either exercising on the park, swimming in the water or riding jet-skis, people are always here. As this beach is situated in western New Providence, close to Baha Mar and Sandals Royal Bahamian, it is ideal for tourists vacationing in that area as well.
If you’re a historian, Montague Beach is best for you. This beach has the oldest standing fort on the island. Built in 1741, Fort Montague holds a world of history while surrounded by beautiful blues. Montague Beach is popular with professionals on lunch break enjoying the views of boats sailing in the Eastern harbour. Families love this beach because of the playground and ample parking.
Paradise Island boasts the breathtaking Cabbage Beach. This beach is a favourite of mine. Every time I walk down the staircase to paradise, I am blown away by how amazing the ocean looks. The waves are usually huge here, because of this, it is a favourite among skimboarders. Cabbage Beach is popular with millennials wanting to hang out with friends and tourists staying on Paradise Island.
Ever wanted to visit an actual film set? If so, you have to visit Jaws Beach where the movie, Jaws was filmed. Fortunately, you most likely won’t see any sharks while swimming here. Even though this is a popular beach in Nassau, it is usually not crowded.
Saunders Beach, which is on West Bay Street is ideal for foodies. American eateries such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King and Pizza Hut are opposite the beach and Bahamian favourites like conch salad and sky juice can be found at Arawak Cay, only a two-minute drive away. With stunning waters, a playground and lots of food nearby, it is crystal clear why Saunders Beach is so popular.
Spending the day at Sandy Toes Beach is honestly the best time. As this beach is on Rose Island and only accessible via a boat, it is a favourite for yacht owners. Sandy Toes also has a fantastic beach bar serving delicious grilled food and the libations are always flowing.
